Susan Forrest Obituary


Susan Harriett (Elliott) Forrest died December 12, 2009 after several months of declining health. She was born December 10, 1932 to Marion Bellfield Elliott and Anna Ebinger Elliott in Cleveland, Ohio.

Susan leaves her husband of nearly 50 years, Henry Nathaniel Forrest and their three children, Andrew Isaiah Forrest, Rebecca Saunders (Forrest) Blikslager, and Spencer Bellfield Forrest. Her 11 beloved grandchildren from Andrew are, Nathaniel Elliott, Jordan Andrew, Caroline Anna, Maria Joy, and twins Peter Miguel and Christopher Mateo. From Rebecca and Anthony Blikslager are Stephen Forrest and Natalie Susan. From Spencer and Elena Vladimirovna (Bakhtina) Forrest are Katerina Priscilla, Nikolai Henry and Vladimir Andrew.

Surviving her are two sisters Virginia Leadley and Anita Belle (Benson) Evans and her brother Marion Bellfield Elliott Jr. and his wife Elizabeth (Dickerson).

She graduated from Nott Terrace High school in Schenectady NY and from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She received her Teacher's accreditation from Plymouth State University in NH graduating with a Master's degree magna cum laude. For ten years she taught both private and public kindergarten in Madison programs, plus substituted for teachers in primary grades in Madison and surrounding towns.

She remained steadfast and engaged as a wife, mother and grandmother with lifelong interests in literature, languages, the arts and the activities and interests of her children and grandchildren. She also served on Madison Town boards and remained interested in Madison's development, beauty and well being. She traveled to Europe and Central America and enjoyed cruises and vacation travels to the Western US.

She is relieved from her recent ills and shall be forever remembered for the constant love, comfort and great positive spirit she brought to our family and friends of each long standing.
