Shirley B. Shenk, 68, of Intervale died December 11, 2012 at the Memorial Hospital in North Conway. Born in Altamont, NY, the daughter of Fred and Louise (McDougall) Brayton, she grew up in North Argyle, NY and had lived in Glens Falls, NY over 25 years prior to moving to Intervale in 2000.
Mrs. Shenk owned and operated Shirley B's Antique Shop for many years and she had been a volunteer in the Gibson Center for Senior Services gift shop in North Conway for several years.
Shirley and her husband enjoyed traveling and they toured much of the United States in their motor home. In the 1990's they participated in house exchanges with other families in Europe, Canada and West Coast of the US.
She also was an avid skier; reader and she also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.
The family includes her husband of 38 years, Frederick R. Shenk, Jr. of Intervale; three stepdaughters, Alice S. Jones and her husband David of Fryeburg, ME, Katharine S. Parsons and her husband Bruce of Glens Falls, NY and Elizabeth Shenk of Schenectady, NY; a stepson, Stephen T. Shenk and his wife Myra of Sandy, Utah; seven step grandchildren; two sisters, Marjorie McDougall of North Argyle, NY and Sylvia Weaver and her husband Doug of Hudson Falls, NY and several nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Furber and White Funeral Home in North Conway is in charge of arrangements.
