Sharon Gray Obituary

Sharon L. (Burke) Gray Sharon Lee (Burke) Gray, born on August 14, 1959, passed away on October 29, 2024, with her family by her side. Sharon was known for her humor, generous heart, and incredible kindness. She loved trips to Foxwoods, nights around the backyard fire, and watching movies and reading romance novels. Originally from Fryeburg, Maine, Sharon spent most of her life in the Mount Washington Valley. She dedicated much of her working life to New Hampshire’s restaurant industry, where she held various roles—from waitress to manager, eventually founding her own restaurant, Sharon’s Seafood, in the mid-2000s. In her later years, she made frequent trips to Kennebunkport, Maine, to enjoy the beach cottage of her late husband, Jay R. Gray Jr. Sharon is predeceased by her mother, Martha Ann Burke; her father, Stephen Raymond Burke; and her husband, Jay R. Gray Jr., who passed away in March with Sharon by his side. She is survived by her sister, Stephanie Ann Fougere, and her husband, Michael Fougere; her brother, Stephen Raymond Burke, and his wife, Betty Burke; and her brother, Scott Bradford Burke, and his wife, Patti Burke. Sharon is also survived by her three children: Dustin Grinnell and his partner, Sam Cooke; Brittany Perry and her husband, Chris Scott, along with their children, Savannah Perry and Jacoby Scott; and Daniel Grinnell and his wife, Amanda Grinnell, with their children, Ethan and Rogan. Sharon was deeply proud of her three children, often sharing the joy she felt in their accomplishments and the families they built. She once said she could leave this world happy, knowing her children were loved and cared for. We find comfort in believing that Sharon passed peacefully, knowing her wish had come true. The family extends special thanks to her healthcare providers at Memorial Hospital, especially Drs. Deborah Cross and Daniel Lieber, and to the team at MaineHealth Medical Center, including Drs. Na Liu, McGarr, and Krauss. Dr. Sophia Raia offered especially compassionate guidance in Sharon’s final hours. The family also wishes to thank Robert (Bob) Parente of MEDACorp for his assistance in connecting them with cancer specialist Dr. David Barbie at Dana-Farber Cancer Center, who showed kindness and compassion. Arrangements were made through Furber Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Visiting hours will be held at Furber & White Funeral Home, 2925 White Mountain Highway, North Conway, N.H., on November 9, from 5 to 7 p.m., followed by a gathering with family and friends at Horsefeathers.
