Samuel, “Sam,” Laurence Howe, 35, of Redstone passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 2nd at his childhood home. Sam was born on November 2nd, 1988 , in North Conway, son of Debra Haynes of Redstone and Michael Howe of North Conway. Sam grew up immersed in youth sports, trying everything, but eventually settling on youth hockey as his passion. As he became an adult he was known to be found in town shooting hoops or cross country skiing in Whitaker Woods. Sam was the happiest when he was outside in the woods, enjoying the sights and sounds of nature. The only thing that made this better was when his family, friends, and beloved dog, Finley would join him. You could find Sam and his mom, Deb out adventuring up Foss Mountain or finding the perfect spot by the river. Sam had a profound respect and warmth for the older generation, often helping out all of his “adopted grandmothers,” in the Conway area and enjoying conversations about the early days. His special bonds extended to all of his furry siblings over the years; Sadie, Lily, Leslie, Dottie, Liv, Kiki, and Finley. Sam had a special heart that caused him to love and feel deeply. His love knew no limits and he was the kind of friend, brother, son, uncle, nephew, grandson, who would drop everything if he knew someone needed him. Unfortunately, Sam’s kind heart that made him feel so deeply, also caused him to battle inner demons and challenges that no one could save him from. He found immediate, short-lived relief from drugs, but found himself in a hamster wheel he could not get out of. Sam wanted to be the son, brother, friend, uncle, nephew that we all knew he could be, but in the end, drugs overtook and rational thoughts no longer existed. As a family we ask Sam’s loved ones to do something in his honor. The next time you think of someone you love and want to reach out, but don’t know how, call them. Tell them you love them; include them in your life; and accept them for who they are. Sam is predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Norma Haynes Wassall and grandfather Robert Haynes (Dogger); paternal grandmother, Joanne Campbell and grandfather, Lawrence Howe; and maternal Uncle Robert Haynes. Sam leaves behind his loving mother and biggest cheerleader in life, Debra Haynes; father Michael Howe (wife Karen Louise Howe); sister Meghan Noyes (husband Chris); niece, Amelia Noyes and nephew, Landon Noyes; Aunt, Helen Jackson; Aunt, Sandra Haynes; Uncle, Philip Haynes; Aunt Joanne LeFurge; Uncle Steven Howe (husband David); Uncle Fred Howe (wife Debra) cousins, Parker Haynes, Hunter Haynes, Danielle Haynes, Jacky (husband Madison and son Haynes), Tyler Haynes (wife Kelsey) Heather Haynes, Jennifer Yule (husband Steven), Courtney Yule (partner Morgan and son Simon), Emily Jackson, Colby Jackson (wife Kayleigh); Larry and Sally Smith and cousins Mary, Zachary, and Isaac Smith, who he enjoyed many adventures with. He leaves behind many other cousins, family members, and friends he loved dearly. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 13th at 805 Hurricane Mountain Road, North Conway (casual attire) from 12-4:00pm. Come as you are to share memories and laughs. Arrangements were made through Furber Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
