Ruth A. Chisholm, 88, of Effingham died September 13, 2009 at Wolfeboro Bay Care and Rehab in Wolfeboro following a brief illness. Born in Lynn, MA, the daughter of George and Edith (Wentzel) Smith, she moved to Effingham Falls ten years ago.
Ruth and Art met and were married in St. Petersburg, FL, 69 years ago.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Freedom.
Ruth loved to dance, play cards and she was especially known for her pie making.
The family includes her husband of 69 years, Arthur H. Chisholm of Effingham; three daughters, Carolyn J. Collins and Janet E. Chisholm, both of Lynn, MA and Susan R. Cannady of Orange, CA; a son Arthur H. Chisholm and his wife Linda of Bartlett; seven grandchildren, Sherri Lindberg, Laurie Toscano, Keri Ensminger, Arthur Chisholm, Jr., Joshua Chisholm, Brian Cannady and Daniel Collins and five great grandchildren, Isabella Toscano, Colin Ensminger, Niklas Lindberg, Lilly Chisholm and Emily Toscano. Each of these children had a very special place in her heart.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday September 16, 2009 at 2 p.m. in the First Christian Church in Freedom with the Rev. Dr. Robert E. Bossdorf, officiating. Burial will be in Effingham Falls Cemetery in Effingham. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Furber and White Funeral Home in North Conway.
