Ronald Smith Obituary


Ronald Eugene Smith, 85, of Conway passed away on February 21, 2010 at the Veterans Hospital in Manchester. Ronald was born on February 15, 1925 to Henry C. and Sadie M. (Robinson) Smith.

He is survived by his sister, Velda Pearl Smith of North Conway; three brothers, Norman C. Smith of Jacksonville, FL, Gene S. and his wife Molly (Allard) Smith and Carroll L. and his wife, Lorna Rae (Siegel) Smith, both of Dover and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, a sister, Celia Ferne Hatch and two brothers, Henry D. Smith and Malcolm C. Smith.

Ronald was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Navy. He was on the USS Ingersoll in the South Pacific where he survived seven major sea battles. He was awarded numerous medals including, Asiatic Pacific Medal with eight bronze stars, Philippine Liberation Medal with two bronze stars, American Theatre Medal and World War II Victory Medal.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Furber and White Funeral Home in North Conway. Graveside services will be held in the High Street Cemetery in Albany, NH, later in the spring, with military honors.
