Rodney L. Eastman, Jr., 80, of Brownfield, ME died June 24, 2010 at his home. Born in Durham, NH, the son of Rodney and Janet (Stevens) Eastman, he grew up in Kearsarge and had lived in North Conway for 27 years before moving to Brownfield in 1979.
Rod served in the US Army in the 1950's and had worked for the former Diamond Lumber Company in North Conway for many years retiring as the Assistant Manager.
Mr. Eastman was a life member of the North Conway Fire Department and had been a member of the ski patrol at Mt. Cranmore in North Conway.
Rod enjoyed gardening, being outdoors, and hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
The family includes his wife, Ruth (Reed) Eastman of Brownfield; two daughters, Jane S. Eastman of Brownfield and Rebecca Eastman of York, PA; a son, Joel E. Eastman and his partner Walter of Sanford, ME; four grandchildren, Donal Heidenblad and his wife Lauren of Baltimore, MD, Morgan Butters of Chatham, Leigh Boisvert and her husband Ray of Deerfield and Ruth Heidenblad of Fairfax, VA; his sister, Audrey Young and her husband Wardwell of Sarasota, FL and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Phebe (Eastman) Butters of Chatham, NH in 1991.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday June 30, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the Furber and White Funeral Home in North Conway. Burial will be in the Kearsarge Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
