Robert M. S. McClellan, 76, died Dec. 24, 2010 at Mineral Springs in North Conway after a long illness. He was born July 21,1934 in Salem Mass. to Louise and Albert McClellan. After his graduation from High School in enlisted in the Army and was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg. He took his Jump Training at Fort Benning, Georgia. His service was from 1952 to 1955.
After completing his tour of duty he returned to Marblehead, Ma. to pursue a career on the Marblehead Police Force. He retired in 1976 and moved to the Mt. Washington Valley.
He was a member of the Mt. Washington Lodge No 87 of Accepted and Free Masonry. He is a twice-past Master of the Lodge and was the Chaplin in more recent years.
He was also awarded the Major Sullivan Award.
Bob lived in N. Conway with his wife Roberta, of 31 years. Family members include two daughters, Cynthia of N. Carolina, Cathy of N. Conway and a son Keith of N. Conway. He has three stepchildren, Barbara and her husband Sam Greto of New York, Michael Henley of Mass. and John Henley of Center Conway, NH.
Five grandchildren, Tara, Nicholas, Christopher, Emily, and Hanna. and several cousins and nephews.
Calling hours will be Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Furber and White Funeral Home in N. Conway. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady
of the Mtns. Church in North Conway. Burial will be in the spring.
