Robert Clement Cyr, 83 passed peacefully in his home on Saturday May 4, 2024 after a period of declining health. His wife, Nancy (Goodhue) Cyr, high school sweetheart and the love of his life to whom he was married to for 37 years, predeceased him in 1996. They enjoyed life and had beautiful memories with treasured family and friends. The room lit up when they appeared. They were often described as larger than life. Robert was at peace knowing he would soon be with her again and their beloved dogs. Robert was born in 1941 in Worcester, MA. He was a son of the late Ernest and Jennie (Salvatore) Cyr. As a teenager, he moved to Maine where relatives resided to work as a lobsterman. At 18, he joined the United States Marine Corps and became a welterweight boxing champion. He was once named “Mr. Worcester” in a bodybuilding contest. Upon his return to his hometown of Worcester, he ran into Reggie LeBlanc, his very special friend until the end, who was getting into the salon business and invited Robert to attend beauty school with him. Robert did and forged some very strong lifelong friendships that exist to this day. Robert was a visionary. Together with Nancy who also became a stylist, they owned St. Cyr Salon and Spa for 55 years. Robert initially purchased the little wig store that turned salon with his most valuable family ring as down payment. As the salon business grew, they purchased and remodeled the entire three floors of the building that at the time became Worcester’s most iconic Salon. Beyond being stylists, they developed a cosmetic line, a luxury skin care line, shampoo and iconic fragrance. The business and building were sold in 2020 to Lynn Carbonneau-Reed who continues to operate as a salon. A road trip to the beautiful White Mountains in the 1980’s became Robert and Nancy’s next adventure. During a heavy snowstorm in Bartlett, they were able to rent the last available little cottage on Rt 16 overnight. The beautiful views the next morning called to them and they bought the cottages and surrounding land. The Cyr’s went on to build one of the region’s top resorts- Nordic Village Luxury Mountain Getaways. They sold the resort in 2007 to the Lafayette family, which added the property to their well-maintained family of resorts. This saw them purchasing and refurbishing one of the oldest Inns in Jackson and created Nestlenook Farm on the River. A beautiful eight-room Inn with acres of creative landscaping offering sleigh rides, ice-skating and snowshoeing. The Towle family, caring close friends whose entire family have worked the property since its development, purchased it earlier this year. The Inn was lost in a fire in 2013 but the property still hosts the winter activities. Robert is survived by many nieces; Gina and Harold Quinn of Worcester, Lisa and Tracey Harding of Holden, Lorrie DeLuca of Shrewsbury, Michelle V. Cyr and her husband Zine Bentoudja of Narragansett, RI, Nephews; Keith DeLuca and his wife Pam of Conway, NH, Paul E. Cyr and his wife Theresa of Worcester, Erik Cousineau, Kevin Cyr, Jenny, Jamey, Tony and Robert Burns. All of Worcester, MA. He leaves many Great nieces, nephews, Great-great nieces, Great-great nephews. All of which he loved very much. His Sister in Law Cathy M. Cyr also survives Robert. Robert leaves Gary G. Clifford his caregiver, longtime friend and assistant for the past 12 years. Close to his heart, he leaves Pamela A. Snyder of Charlton, MA an employee and friend of 39 years whom he often referred to as the daughter he wished he could have had. Both were by his side at his passing. He is predeceased by five siblings, Ernest “Lucky” Cyr, Zita “Penny” DeMarco, Leah DeLuca, Paul Cyr and Carol Burns. And his beloved Grandmother Angelina Salvatore. The family would like to give special thanks to Visiting Nurse Home Care & Hospice of Carroll County. Especially Audrey, Rachel, Deb and Lisa for their wonderful support and care in his time of need.
