Patricia McGinty Obituary

Patricia (Pat) J. McGinty, 93, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026 at RiverWoods Durham with family at her side. She was born in Farmington, Maine on March 26, 1933 and grew up in North Conway, NH.   Pat attended Kennett High School in Conway where she met her life-long love, John McGinty. She graduated in the Spring of 1951. After the completion of John’s military service, John and Pat settled in Durham where they raised their family on Mast Road surrounded by fields and an apple orchard. Their days were filled with gardening, bird watching, cross country skiing, and watching beautiful sunsets with their beloved black labrador, “Rosie”. They also treasured their extended stays at their cabin in Corea, Maine where they picked wild blueberries, star gazed, and walked along Schoodic Point and Corea Harbor. Pat devoted over 25 years of service to the Oyster River School District working as a paraprofessional at Oyster River Elementary School and Mast Way. She loved being a part of a community of students and teachers, forming friendships and memories that enriched her life. Family was her greatest joy. An accomplished baker and knitter, she spent countless hours creating things (diverse delectable desserts and sweaters knitted with care, to note just a few) that brought comfort and happiness to those she loved. The warmth she created in her home and the devotion she showed to her family will always be remembered. She loved hiking and camping along the Swift River and skiing in NH’s White Mountains with her family. Later during retirement, Pat enjoyed traveling with John in Ireland, Barbados, St. Kitts, Canada, and throughout the United States. Pat was the beloved wife of John McGinty. She was the caring mother of Michael (Cynthia), Kevin, Christine Turcot (Christopher), and Maureen (Robert Bartosiewicz). She was greatly blessed with 4 grandchildren, Michael Jr., Danny, Nicole, and Meagan; and numerous nieces and nephews; her brother, Ralph Bogle; her sister-in-law, Judy McGinty, and her brother-in-law, Don Phillips. Pat was predeceased by her parents, Selma (Eastman) and Neil Bogle; and her brothers, Jerry and Frank, and her sister-in-law, Marty Bogle. The family would like to thank RiverWoods Durham, Brookhaven Hospice, and Bernadette Paradis for the compassionate care Pat received. A celebration of Pat’s life is being planned for later this summer. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New Hampshire SPCA.   The Furber and White Funeral Home in North Conway is in charge of arrangements
