Patricia Irish Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Patricia M. Irish, who went home peacefully at the age of 91 on October 20th at Harris Hill Nursing Home in Concord, NH. Patricia was born on July 29, 1934, to William and Lena Merrill at Memorial Hospital in North Conway, NH. She grew up in her family home on Kearsarge Street and graduated from Kennett High School in 1952. After graduation, she worked at the gift shop on the summit of Mount Cranmore and later for Mrs. Sweeney at the 5 and 10 on Main Street. Patricia met our father at the First Baptist Church in North Conway after he returned home from serving in the Navy. They married in 1957 and lived in Portsmouth, NH, while he attended engineering school at UNH. Later, they moved to Massachusetts, where our father worked as a chemical engineer at Monsanto. Patricia gave birth to her daughter, Deborah, on October 6, 1960, and was blessed with her son, David, in May 1967. After the unexpected passing of her husband, Perley, in 1969, and her father, William, Patricia moved her family back to North Conway to live with her mother, Lena. She worked as a salesclerk at Ballou’s Department Store in Conway and later as a frame stylist at Conway Eye Care Associates. Patricia also helped open the Little Mountaineers Kindergarten at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, where she attended for many years. She loved teaching and positively impacted the lives of countless children. Patricia also served as the church secretary for several years, always ready to listen, counsel, and pray with parishioners. Patricia later worked for several years at North Conway Bank before selling her family home and moving to Conway, NH. Upon retiring, she moved in with her son David and daughter-in-law, Christina Denis, helping to raise their four children—years she recalled as some of the happiest of her life. In 2015, Patricia moved into Whitaker Place, where she lived until transferring to Harris Hill Nursing Home in August 2023. Even in her final days, she continued to touch lives. She was a blessing to all who knew her. Her kind and loving spirit and devotion to the Lord will long be remembered. Patricia was a woman of strength who led by example, and her love will remain timeless for all her family and friends. Patricia leaves behind her children, David and Deborah Irish; her grandchildren, Emma Lux (husband Steve), Ethan Batten (wife Jennifer), Dillon Irish (wife Lexie), Griffin Irish, Aidan Irish, and Reagan Irish; and her great-grandchildren, Grant Lux, Tyler Lux, Henry Batten, and Cora Batten. Our mom had a heart that embraced everyone and a love that was boundless—for her Savior, her family, and all those He placed on her path. We could not have asked for a better mother, Nana, or friend.
