Olive Tickner Obituary


Olive S. "Babs" Tickner, 84, of North Conway died September 8, 2009 at the Mineral Springs of North Conway following a lengthy illness. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Emil and Olive (Triska) Wolf, she had lived in the Mt. Washington Valley many years.

Babs worked for two physicians Dr. Casey and Dr Markz in Ocala Florida. She worked for the blood bank for the American Red Cross as a manager prior to moving to Mt Washington Valley in Conway. Babs was a medical technologist and had worked at the Memorial Hospital in North Conway over 25 years and was head of the lab for many years, until her retirement. She was a lifelong member the Catholic Church and enjoyed her service and fellowship with parish members, staff and friends. She was particularly close to Father Don Gauthier, a longtime friend. Babs enjoyed the outdoors, traveling and sightseeing. She was a professional photographer and was well know for her photos and wildlife scenes. She enjoyed a special relationship with all animals wild and domestic. Babs was a kind and compassionate woman who cared about the welfare of others and loved to help and provide assistance in any way she could, volunteering for many, much needed tasks. She had a great love for children and their development, growth, and needs. She was often seen on her moped, which she loved to ride, touring the area, doing errands and visiting friends.

She was predeceased by a sister, Mary E. McKenney of California and a brother, Robert E. Wolf of Florida.

A funeral service will be held at Our Lady of Mountains Catholic Church in North Conway, NH 03860 at 11AM on Monday Sept 14, 2009.
