Marilyn Howard Obituary


Marilyn N. Howard, 80, of North Conway died September 25, 2009 at Mineral Springs of North Conway in North Conway. Born December 2, 1928 in Fall River, MA, she was the daughter of Vincent and Eunice (Sunderland) Norbury.

Marilyn was raised in Fall River, MA and met her "soul mate" Whitey in High School. They married in 1948.

They built their dream house in Somerset, MA in 1960 and in 1980 they moved to North Conway, a place they loved after vacationing for many years.

She had many interesting careers in her life, which included mortgage officer at the former White Mtn. National Bank, secretary to various Chiefs of Police in Conway and a partner of Moat View Terrace Campground. Prior to moving to NH she was an employee who worked at the Raytheon Company where she worked her way up and became an equal rights employee advocate. She was aware of this need in the work force and was a woman ahead of her time.

Marilyn and Whitey loved to camp and did take the vacation of their lives with Lindelle and Jay and traveled across the country for six weeks. Marilyn did all of the driving she was an amazing woman.

She is survived by a daughter, Lindelle Gorham and her husband Dana of North Conway; a son, Jay D. Howard and his wife Toni of East Conway; three grandchildren, Adam Gorham and his wife Jennifer of Center Conway, Nicholas Howard and his wife Elaine of Barrington, NH and Corrie Howard of Dover, NH and two great-grandchildren, Cadance Howard and Jeweliana Gorham; a brother, James W. Norbury and his wife Hazel of Liberty Lake, Washington and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Horden "Whitey" Howard in May of 1990.

Marilyn was loved by many people. She spent the last couple of years of her life living at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation Center where it seemed she was very happy and well cared for. Thank you all!
