Madeline Elias

Madeline D. Elias, 91, died peacefully at her home during the early morning hours of June 5, 2010.

She was born on June 5, 1919, the daughter of the late Chet and Hazel Willey and was raised in the house she was born in, located on Mirror Lake Road in Woodstock, NH, along with her five brothers and one sister. Her husband, Martin Elias, a WWII veteran, predeceased her in January of 1961. She is survived by her only child, Janet L. Mallett and her son-in-law Ernie Mallett, three grandchildren, Michael J. Mallett, Sandra L. Tuttle, and Jeffrey W. Mallett. She was especially proud of her six great grandchildren, Jessica & Brian Mallett, Jeffrey & Christina Mallett and Mikayla & Tyler Mallett. Madeline's five brothers all predeceased her and were all military veterans of war. They were; Elwood Willey who was killed in action during WWII, Irvin and Gordon Willey, who also served in combat during WWII, Norman Willey, who served during the Korean Conflict and her youngest brother, Alden Willey, who was killed in action during the Vietnam War as a Green Beret in the Army and was awarded the Silver Star. She is survived by her older sister, Marguerite Seibel, 92, along with three nephews and one niece.

She was well liked and remembered for her quick wit, outgoing personality and her love for making conversation. She was the name, face and inspiration for "Madeline's Deli" on the 18th green of the Wentworth Golf Course in Jackson, NH, where she worked and entertained for thirteen years up until the time she was 85 years old.

Madeline was an avid and passionate Red Sox fan and never missed a game. She liked to read, knit and sew but throughout her life, nothing gave her greater joy than spending time with her family and being the most loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother a person could ever have.

Madeline was truly one of a kind and we will all miss her dearly.
