One of the valleys most beloved native residents, Katherine "Kay" Porter passed away peacefully and quietly at her home in Kearsarge this past Thursday with her loving family by her side. Kay was 74 years old.
Kay was the vice president and treasurer to Porter Office Machines which exemplifies the tradition of a family-run, hometown business with over 50 years of success. To compliment this, Kay is also known for her tireless work with the Rotary Auction for nearly 20 years, endless contributions to the community and the church.
For those who knew Kay, she lived life on her own terms and with dignity. If you were to have asked Kay what she cherished the most, without hesitation she would respond that nothing was more important than her love for her husband Robert F. Porter of fifty two years, her pride of her five children Steven, twins Mark and Michael, Eric and Kimberly, their spouses and her 15 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. During Kay's last few months support came from her Uncle Harold "Snip" Ross and wife Mariette, her sister Sally, Cousins Michael and Pamela and families.
Kay loved life, she had a great sense of humor and she will be missed.
