Josephine “Joy” Marie Beattie 92 a resident of Mountain View Nursing Home in Ossipee, NH and formerly of Stowe, VT passed away at Frisbie Hospital in Rochester, NH from complications of RSV on Sunday January 7, 2024 surrounded by family. Joy was born in Hoboken, NJ on October 18, 1931 to Agnes and Augustav Sirkoosky. Joy graduated from Boonton High School in 1950. Joy married the late Robert M. Beattie Sr on March 31. 1951 in Parsippany, NJ. She is survived by her children Robert M. Beattie Jr of Morrisville, VT, Victoria Beattie of Burlington, VT, Doreen B. Tymon of VT, Stephen Beattie and wife Josie of Conway, NH and Rebecca Elkins and husband Paul of Crested Butte, CO along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joy was predeceased by her husband Robert M. Beattie Sr. in March 2019 and her daughter Deborah Beattie in July 1991. Joy spent most of her days raising her 6 children, traveling with her family and enjoying many adventures to places such as PEI, Nevada, Colorado, Florida and Alaska. She loved telling stories about growing up in NJ, the places she visited and the adventures and memories she made. She loved her home and making a safe place for her family to congregate and eat. Joy enjoyed sewing, cooking and making candy. She was a member of the Eastern Star Sickle Chapter #34 of Stowe, VT, Red Hats Society, Stowe Fire Department Woman’s Auxiliary and spent many years with her husband as active members of the Mount Sinai #3 Shriners. Visiting hours will be Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 4-6 at Ferber and White Funeral Home in North Conway. There will be a short service at 5:45pm. A spring burial (date to be announced) will be held in Stowe, VT
