Josephine Arlotta, 88, of Bartlett, NH died December 22, 2010 at Memorial Hospital after a long period of illness. She was the loving wife of Vincent A. Arlotta, to whom she was married for 61 years. She and her husband were living with their daughter, Francine Lawler and son-in-law John Lawler of Bartlett since 2005. Her family also includes her daughter Darlene Katsch and husband Edward of Beach Lake, PA, a son Vincent L. Arlotta and wife Linda of New York City, a sister Mary Kiely and husband Howard, a sister-in-law Katherine Arlotta, wife of Francis Arlotta, deceased, a brother-in-law Louis Arlotta and wife Mary Ann of Staten Island, NY and a sister-in-law Madeline Battafarano. She had eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews
In her earlier days she was an avid swimmer and an American Red Cross Swimming and Life Saving Instructor who loved teaching children and adults. She worked most of her married life including working at the New York Museum of Natural History and was a manager of the Health Club and Spa at the Colony Club in NYC. She also worked at three children's camps as Waterfront Director.
There will be no viewing hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be at Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church on Thursday, Dec. 30th at 11 am. Furber and White Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements. Internment will be at St. John's Cemetery, Middle Village, NY at a later date.
