John G. Waterman, aged 88, of North Conway, NH, passed away on November 6, 2024 after a period of declining health. Born on February 21, 1936, John led a life marked by dedication to his family, his career, and his country. John's early education was at Conway Village Grammar School, followed by Hebron Academy in Hebron, Maine. He furthered his education at the University of New Hampshire, laying a strong foundation for his future endeavors. From 1956 to 1960, John honorably served in the Air Force, stationed at Hahn AFB and Freising, Germany, where he embraced the discipline and camaraderie that military life offered. His commitment to service continued into his civilian career, where he held various significant roles. He was a part-owner and manager at Robbins & Kolln, Inc., and a supervisor at Yield House, both in North Conway, NH. He also owned and managed Tri-County Distributors in Berlin, NH for 14 years and worked in purchasing/inventory at an Anheuser Busch Distributorship in Norwich, CT. Later, he was a sales agent at Norm Thompson in Settler's Green, North Conway, and served on the Town of Conway Planning Board. John's personal life was rich with relationships and hobbies. He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Karl and her husband Wayne of Sumter, South Carolina; son, John (Jay) Waterman Jr. and his wife Gail of Jackson, NH; grandchildren, Mark Nolet and his partner Nicole of Tamworth, NH, and Jacqueline Nolet of Rochester, NH; and great-grandchild, Ethan Nolet. He also leaves behind his former wife and mother of his children, Wilma Tschaikowsky. John was predeceased by his beloved wife of 43 years, Beverly (Kemp) Waterman in 2020, his parents, John S. Waterman and Dorothy (Kennett) Saunders, Waterman, Dupont, Step-Dad Eugene (Duke) Dupont, and siblings William (Gus), Fred, and Robert Saunders, along with nephews James (Jimbo) and Michael Saunders. Known for his wit, humor, and love of family, John enjoyed playing hockey, golf, and tennis in his younger years. He was an active social member of his community, dabbled in photography, and cherished his expansive music collection. His annual trips to the hunting camp on Lang Road with his lifetime buddies were among his favorite memories. Per John's request, there will be no visitation hours. A military graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 11:30 AM in the North Conway Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Furber & White Funeral Home, 2925 White Mountain Highway, North Conway, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. John's legacy of service, both in his professional life and personal pursuits, will be remembered by all who knew him.
