Jean L. Huntoon died peacefully at her home on July 17, 2025, of pancreatic cancer while surrounded by family and loved ones. Jean is predeceased by her second husband Trooper First Class Wayne A. Huntoon, daughter Lynn Dionne, parents Ruth A. and John N. Leighton, sister Marsha Leighton, and sister Nancy L. Darling. During her 37 years as the Clerk of the Conway District Court, Jean ran the court and helped guide lawyers and litigants through the sometimes-intimidating process. She ‘made it work’ often working nights and weekends. She loved her staff and her bailiffs at the Court. She was a Bail Commissioner and would often go out after court hours to set bail. Upon her retirement she enjoyed spending time with family and had an active social life meeting up with friends, participating in a knitting group, going to Bone Builders, working out with her personal trainer, Emily Wirling, and creating beautiful needlepoint pieces. She maintained her friendships with childhood friends too numerous to mention (you all know who you are) and easily accumulated new ones. She loved “Dr” Emily Beaulieu and thanks her and the VNA team who cared for her. She is grateful to Larry and Jersey Nickerson, and her partner in crime, Robin J. Gordon. Jean is survived by her children, Elizabeth D. Madden (Gary) Center Barnstead NH; Kimberlee Dionne Paris KY; Melissa D. Veazey (Allen) Cudjoe Key FL; Stepdaughter Julie H. Lemire (Scott) Wilton NH; Neice Sarah D. Williams (Michael) Richland MO; and several cousins. Arrangements were made through Furber Funeral Home and Cremation Services. A funeral will be held on Monday July 28, 2025, 10am, at the Christ Episcopal Church, 16 Pine Street, North Conway NH. Immediately after, the burial will take place at the Kearsarge Cemetery, 1 Yellow Brick Road, Kearsarge NH. There will be no wake or reception, but a celebration of life will be scheduled later in the year. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of ones’ choice.
