Janet Clemons

Janet Clemons, 86, of Bartlett NH passed away peacefully on October 2nd, 2023. Janet was born in Boston MA on November 14, 1936 to John and Vera Adams. Janet, a dedicated mother and loving wife of Jim; predeceased, is survived by two sons, Dana and Doug, both of Bartlett; stepson Jim, his wife Lucy, step-grandchildren Teresa and Shannon, their spouses and several step-greatgrandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, friends and her dog, Betty. After graduating from North Quincy High School, Janet went to work at The John Hancock Life Insurance Company. Camping in the White Mountains of NH was a regular family activity with her mother and siblings, Jack and Joan, often at their favorite spot, Zealand Campground; it was on one of these camping trips that she met local man Jim Clemons Sr., who wooed her and eventually became her husband. Shortly after becoming married, the couple settled in Bartlett, Jim’s hometown, where Jim was employed by the US Forest Service. Jim, and Jan, as family and friends called her, made a home in Bartlett village and raised two sons, Doug and Dana; Jim continued to work for the USFS until his retirement, while Jan worked in light manufacturing assembling thermostats; then as a server fondly remembered by customers of the Carriage Inn restaurant in North Conway, and later as the director of the hot lunch program at Bartlett Elementary School. Jan enjoyed gardening, especially growing roses; cooking and baking, for which she was known as one of the best; reading, word puzzles, playing cribbage and spending time with family, as well as being an active member of the Bartlett Congregational Church, and in retirement, traveling with Jim, making two cross-country trips, stopping to visit friends and family while seeing the sights along the way. Janet will be remembered as a great mom, a devoted and loving wife, as well as being a caring and compassionate friend and beloved community member, she will be missed by many. Funeral services for Janet will be held on Tuesday, October 10 at 2:00 pm at the Bartlett Congregational Church followed by internment at the Bartlett Village Cemetery.
