Jane Perley Obituary

Jane Frances Creed Perley, age 90, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025 at Merriman House in North Conway, New Hampshire. Jane was born September 22, 1934 in Haverhill, Massachusetts to Dr. John P. and Pearl Burton Creed. Jane attended Haverhill High School where she met her future husband Arthur ‘Skip’ Perley Jr. After graduating from High School at 16, she attended Colby Sawyer Jr. College and the Chandler School For Women in Boston Ma. In 1955 she and Skip were married and she became a military wife as Skip served in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service in California. Following Skip’s military service, they settled in Merrimac, MA where their family grew to include 4 sons. Jane worked for many years in administration at the Helen R. Donaghue school in Merrimac, Ma. Upon moving to North Conway, she obtained her Real Estate License and worked at Country Squire Realty in the mid to late 70’s. She then worked at SAU 9 Administration before finishing her career in HR Administration with Joe Berry and his team at the Eastern Slope Inn. Jane was also an avid volunteer in the Mount Washington Valley, from being involved with the Volvo Tennis Tournament, her many years of supporting the American Cancer Society and their annual Breast Cancer Walk initiatives and lastly, but perhaps most dear to Jane, was her volunteer efforts with Our Lady of the Mountains Church and Parish. Jane’s faith, love and care for others was her most prolific and passionate part of all her volunteer efforts. Jane loved her family, show tunes, and the sun on her face. She could often be seen on the sun porch, the ski slopes, or the beach with her face raised to the sun – eyes closed and a smile on her face. She was an avid tennis player, skier, both alpine and cross country, and was active in community musical theater. The boys could always identify the current show by the songs heard throughout the house! She was the consummate football/baseball/swim team/ski team mom – shuttling her boys around the Valley and cheering them on. In her retirement years, Jane and Skip enjoyed time in NH as well as winters in the sun and warmth of Clearwater, FL. There she developed another community of friends at Hillcrest Park where she continued her volunteer efforts with the Friendship Club. She enjoyed years of playing shuffleboard on the park team, competing throughout the Clearwater area. True to her Irish heritage, Jane never met a stranger. She could talk to anyone and would strike up conversations with newfound friends during travels around the world. Jane will be remembered as a great cook, a loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and a wonderful friend. Jane is survived by her loving sons Arthur, Brian (Becky), Christopher (Brittany) and Daniel (Kim), grandchildren Anne Marie Perley, Nathan Perley, Meagan Perley, Sean Perley and Grace Perley, and her great-grandson Izaac Frazier, as well as her dear nieces Michele Corbiel, Christine Freeman and Victoria Bunting. She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Arthur, brother John and sister Anne. The family wishes to thank the staff at Merriman House in North Conway for their kindness and care during Jane’s time there. Services will be held at Our Lady of the Mountains Church, 2905 White Mountain Hwy, North Conway on Friday, September 26, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Jane’s memory to Jen’s Friends Cancer Foundation, PO Box 1842, N Conway, NH 03846 jensfriends.org
