Howard Russell McGlauflin, 88, passed away peacefully at his home on July 22, 2023, in North Conway, NH. He was born on May 15, 1935, in Wakefield, MA. Howard was a loving husband to Joan, a devoted father to Lori and her husband William Bennett III, Russell, his wife Tammy and Brian, and a cherished grandfather to William, Jonathan and his wife Stacy, Kerri and her husband Dan, Jennifer, and Joshua. He also had the joy of being a great-grandfather to Ethan and Lucas Bennett, and Aiden Bedard. Also, Joan’s children Joseph Rovani and his wife Margarita and their children Emma, her husband Joey and Sam. Lawrence and his spouse Chris. Howard is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Dorothy McGlauflin, and his brother, Robert. Howard attended Everett High School and furthered his education at Lowell Technical Institute, where he earned a BBA & ABA. He also pursued his studies at the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical Institute earning an MAM, Cameron College and the FAA Executive School. Howard proudly served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1958. Following his military service, he embarked on a successful career as an Air Traffic Controller with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for 33 years. Throughout his tenure, he rose through the ranks and eventually held pivotal positions such as Chief of the Norwood Airport and Bradford Airport in Connecticut. He also served as Deputy Chief of Logan International Airport in Boston, Ma. After leaving his managerial role at Logan International Airport, Howard continued to contribute his expertise in management for the FAA after his retirement. After retirement he worked as an ODAPS Manager for Diversified International Sciences Corporation. Howard found solace and purpose in his faith. He was an active member of the Center Conway United Methodist Church. Outside of work and worship, he enjoyed spending time with family, watching college basketball, and was a loyal supporter of the New England Patriots. Howard generously dedicated his time to mission work, participating in the construction of a church in Africa and joining a fact-finding mission with Church World Services Project Grow Food Amazon in Peru. He also volunteered extensively at Sager-Brown in Baldwin, LA, leading youth groups. Howard contributed his skills and compassion to hurricane relief efforts in Biloxi, MS, and New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. He was a member of the Wamesit Lodge A.F & A.M. in Tewksbury, Ma. He was also a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite. A Celebration of Life for Howard Russell McGlauflin will be held on Saturday, July 29, at 1:00 pm at the Center Conway United Methodist Church, 1626 East Main St, Center Conway, NH 03813. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Mount Washington Valley Adult Day Center at 987 East Main St, Center Conway, NH 03813. Howard’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
