Henry Forrest Obituary

Henry Nathaniel Forrest, born 12/15/29 to Priscilla and Isaiah Forrest, peacefully passed away on 2/3/24 after a brief illness. He lived a rich and varied life full of adventures, from playing minor league baseball for the Braves, skiing and racing until he was 88, serving in the Korean War in the Air Force and being honorably discharged with the rank of captain and traveling internationally with General Electric. At GE he sold everything from electric motors to outdoor lighting for cities, traveling to every continent aside from Antarctica. Whilst at GE he made his very best decision when he met his future wife whilst skiing and married Susan Harriet Elliott. They were married for one month shy of 50 years. In 1971 he left GE to move back to his beloved family home in Silver Lake, N.H., raising a family of three children, Andrew (Drew), Rebecca (Becky) and Spencer, who became the 8th generation of Forrests to grow up in Madison. At Silver Lake he worked as a stock broker until he was 72 when he retired to work on the family farm and lands, which continued into his 90’s. Always busy, smiling and involved, he served his beloved town in many capacities, including as a little league coach, coaching his sons and many others, church deacon and finally on the Veteran’s Monument Committee. He bestowed upon his children a sense of purpose, fair play, hard work and ambition and was always available for advice, wit or just a shoulder to shelter us from the world, when necessary. Any time we talked to dad, all problems seemed surmountable. He loved God, his family, his country, baseball, the Yankees, skiing and his hometown. He is predeceased by his parents Isaiah Lord Forrest and Priscilla Plummer Forrest Philbrick, his beloved wife Susan Elliott Forrest, his older brother and sister George Newell Forrest and Elizabeth Forrest Annis and one grandson, Christian Thomas Forrest. He is survived by his children Andrew Isaiah Forrest and his wife Karen Sinclair-Forrest, Rebecca Forrest Blikslager and her husband Anthony Blikslager and his son Spencer Bellfield Forrest. His grandchildren include Nathaniel Elliott Forrest and his wife Lucero Forrest, Jordan Andrew Forrest, Jordan Emily Sinclair-McIntyre, Stephen Forrest Blikslager, Caroline Anna Forrest Keohane and her husband Jason Keohane, Natalie Susan Blikslager, Peter Miguel Forrest, Christopher Mateo Forrest, Maria Joy Forrest, Katerina Priscilla Forrest, Nikolai Henry Forrest and Vladimir Andrew Forrest. His great-grandchildren include Bennett Nathaniel Forrest, Mateo Forrest Paremo, Madison Grace Forrest and Cameron Alexander Keohane. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and darling, life-long friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Madison Church, the Madison Food Pantry, both at P.O Box 119 Madison, N.H. 03849 or a charity of your choice. We will miss and love you forever dad. Go with God, you good and faithful servant.
