Harold "Sid" Potter, of Conway, NH, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025, at the age of 86, surrounded by his loving family. Sid was born at Memorial Hospital in North Conway, NH on October 19, 1938 to Harold and Irene Potter. He was a very proud native of Conway for his entire life, graduating from Kennett High School in 1956 where he met the love of his life Carol (Chase) Potter. He and Carol acquired Sid's Esso, later Exxon, on Main Street in North Conway in 1969. They operated it successfully as a full service filling station and automotive repair facility until 1982. At that time they renovated it to a convenience store known as Sid's Valley Food and Beverage which became a main street landmark in North Conway village through 2011. Sid also owned and operated Sid Potter Excavation and Trucking for many years, until retiring in 2016. After retiring Sid and Carol enjoyed traveling the country in their Motorhome, as well as vacations to Aruba. Sid had a lifelong love of cars, racing many years at Oxford Plains Speedway in Maine. Sid always drove a red Chevrolet, number 55 and was known as the "Conway Comet". He was a member of the Mount Washington Valley Old Car Club, and a proud owner of his classic 67 Camaro and his 32 Ford Street Rod. He is survived by his wife of 67 1/2 years Carol (Chase) Potter and their children, Allan Potter and his wife Carole of Middleton, NH, Cindy Potter Thibodeau and her husband Carl of Conway, NH and Bonnie Potter Whitney and fiance Dennis Wakefield of Moultonborough, NH. He was also a cherished grandfather to Jonathan Whitney, Joseph Thibodeau, Jennifer Thibodeau, Audrey Thibodeau, and Shauna Brocato. A great grandfather to many and known to them as Bumpa. Friends and Family are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, April 4 from 5 PM-7 PM at Furber Funeral Home in North Conway, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Conway Rescue Squad or Jen's Friends in his memory. Sid will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and strength.
