Gwyneth (Gwyn) Halloran passed away peacefully in North Conway, NH on February 16, 2025 at age 91. She was devoted to her husband of 71 years, Donald Halloran of Hale’s Location (North Conway), NH and was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Gwyn was born on August 30, 1933, and raised in Ipswich, MA and educated at Ipswich High School where she was the class Valedictorian. After high school, she worked as a Bell Atlantic Operator in Lynn, MA and she met and fell in love with Don Halloran of Wakefield MA. They married in September 1953 in California where Don was stationed with the Army just prior to leaving to serve in Korea. While Don was away in Korea, Gwyn lived in New York City where she was an administrative assistant for an advertising agency. When Don returned from Korea, they moved back to Massachusetts where they raised their four children. Don and Gwyn subsequently worked and lived in Connecticut, Brazil, Buffalo and back in Connecticut until Don retired in 1995, and in 1998 they moved to Hale’s Location, NH. Gwyn was a voracious reader, a frequent community volunteer and had varied hobbies and interests that emerged throughout her life. She was a talented artist, seamstress and figure skater. Ice skating was her first love, and she used her skill and creativity to help organize skating shows, compete locally as an amateur ice dancing partner, teach figure skating professionally to children and adults, and voluntarily to special needs children. She also instilled her love of skating into her children who became figure skaters and hockey players at a young age. Later in life, Gwyn loved being outdoors and tending to their beloved lake cottage “Hoj Poj Loj” in Bridgton, Maine. She also enjoyed cross-country skiing and later became a graceful downhill skier, frequenting the many local slopes in New Hampshire (Attitash, Cranmore and Breton Woods) and Maine (Sunday River, Shawnee Peek). Gwyn also loved hiking, playing tennis and attending exercise classes at the Gibson Center, all of which she pursued well into her 80s. In addition to her athletic endeavors, Gwyn was a talented seamstress, making clothes, furniture covers, drapes, and creative costumes for skating shows and the holidays. As an amateur artist, she often challenged herself to expand her artistic repertoire and became proficient in a variety of mediums including watercolor, oil and charcoal pencil drawings. Her many works were frequently displayed in local exhibits and decorate her home and lake cottage. As a member of the Mountain Garden Club, she designed flower arrangements for local contests and worked tirelessly on many civic beautification projects. Gwyn was predeceased by her sister Eleanor Martin. Her surviving family members will cherish her memory including her husband Don (Hales Location, NH), her children, Keith Halloran of Rindge, NH, Donna Flynn (Steve) of Wallingford, CT, Todd Halloran (Julie) of Sullivan’s Island, SC/Darien, CT and Ani Abruzzese (Dave Spenard) of Manchester, NH; four nieces and one nephew; and her eight grandchildren and one great grandchild who knew her affectionately as “Grams”. Gwyn will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the caregivers at the Merriman House in North Conway, NH. Their kindness and dedication are deeply appreciated. A Memorial Service will be held at Furber & White Funeral Home in North Conway, NH (2925 White Mountain Highway) on February 28, 2025 at 11:00am, with a reception lunch open to friends and family to follow from noon to 2pm at the Ledges Restaurant at the White Mountain Hotel (87 Fairway Drive Hale’s Location (North Conway) NH).
