Glen H. Thibodeau, 78, of Albany died Sunday April 11, 2010 at his home. Born in Ossipee, the son of Carroll and Ruth (Browne) Thibodeau, he was a lifelong resident of the Conway area.
Glen worked as a chef in local hotels beginning in his teen years, was subsequently self-employed raising livestock and operating a slaughterhouse, and later in years was employed as Superintendent of the Conway Village Water District from which he retired in 1992. He was the proud owner of Lazy Acre Farm in Albany where he trained show steers for many, many years.
He was a member of Conway Village Fire and Rescue for more than 20 years. Was a 32nd degree member of Mt. Washington Valley Lodge #87 of Free and Accepted Order of Masons, and Past Master of that Lodge. He was also a member of Independent Order of Odd Fellows for 60 years, the Elmwood Grange, MWV Snowmobile Club, Improved Order of Redmen, Carroll County Fish & Game Club, NRA, Lifetime member of Fryeburg Fair Assn., Member of Western Maine Ox Assn., lifetime member and former President of New England Ox Teamsters Assn. He served faithfully on the Board of Directors of the Friday night Poker Club for 60 years.
The family includes his much-loved companion and soul mate, Elva Fowler of Albany; a daughter, Jan R. Brown and her husband, Dennis of Chocorua, two sons, Bruce W. Thibodeau and his wife Pamela of Standish, ME and Michael G. Thibodeau and his wife Patricia of Auburn, ME; six grandchildren, Scott, Jennifer, John, Hank, Chris and Melissa; eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Carl L. Thibodeau and his wife Tootie of Albany and Jack N. Thibodeau and his wife Janice of Bellingham, WA; a sister, Gail T. Currier of Conway and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an older brother, Gene C. Thibodeau.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday April 15, 2010 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Furber and White Funeral Home in North Conway with a Masonic service a 6 p.m. Memorial services will be held Friday April
