Frank H. Barker, 73, of Conway died Thursday September 16, 2010 at Mineral Springs in North Conway following a long illness. Born in Portsmouth, NH, the son of Nelson and Hilda (Gustason) Barker, he grew up in Stratham and moved to Conway in 1984.
Frank graduated from Portsmouth High School and had been employed by Raytheon in Framingham, MA for many years. He also worked for Wright and Pierce in Portsmouth and for Perini at the Seabrook Station prior to moving to the Mt. Washington Valley and working for H.E. Bergeron from 1984 until 1990.
Mr. Barker was a member of Winnicutt Grange in Stratham and also to the Pomona, State and National Grange. He had been very active in the Stratham Community Church and the Conway Village Congregational Church. Frank had been on the Stratham Planning Board and the Stratham Fair Committee from its inception until 1984.
Frank was also an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
The family includes his wife, Barbara J. Barker of Conway, a daughter, Karen J. Ferguson and her husband Jeff of Campton, a granddaughter, Aliza R. Richards of Campton, a sister, Betty Batchelder of Stratham and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday September 20, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the Conway Village Congregational Church with the Rev. Dr. Michael H. Carrier, officiating. Visiting hours will be from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Maple Lane Cemetery in Stratham on September 21, 2010 at 1 p.m.
