Evelyn (Annis) Bartlett, 82, passed away January 7, 2011 at the Merriman House of North Conway following a long illness with Alzheimer's disease.
Evie was born on April 25, 1928 to Guy and Elizabeth Annis. She grew up in the Camden, Rockport Maine area and attended local schools. Following WWII she married Frederick Bartlett and in 1954 they moved, along with their son, Curtis to the Mount Washington Valley where she would live until her passing.
She was employed by Carroll Reed, in the shipping department, for over 20 years. She was well known as a loyal, hard worker with a good sense of humor. With the closing of Carroll Reed Evie retired which allowed her more time to spend with her growing family.
She especially liked attending her grandson's sporting events as she had done with her son. She particularly enjoyed watching them participate in alpine ski racing and baseball.
She loved her "boys" and you could tell she was very proud of them.
While watching her favorite team, the Boston Red Sox, Evie would knit one of a kind hats or sweaters. Family and friends lucky enough to have one of these colorful creations will always treasure them.
Family was very important to Evie and she always looked forward to her trips back to the "Farm" in Maine to visit with extended family. She always enjoyed when family traveling through the Mt. Washington Valley would stop to visit Aunt Evie & Uncle Fred.
Evie was a member of the congregation of First Church of Christ Congregational in North Conway. She also volunteered at the Gibson Center Thrift Shop for many years.
Evie is survived by her son, Curtis O. and his wife Ann Marie (Gilchrist) Bartlett of Silver Lake; grandsons Curtis F. "Skip" Bartlett of North Conway and Seth A. Bartlett of Park City, Utah; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Along with her parents Evie was predeceased by her husband, Frederick Bartlett in 1992 and her siblings Edwin, Katherine and John of Maine.
