Elwin William King, known the world over simply as Pork, born on April 29, 1972, passed away comfortably after a difficult battle with colon cancer late Sunday night, October 12. A native resident of Silver Lake, Pork was raised on a small family farm on High Street leading to a lifelong appreciation of agriculture, hard work and, especially, trucking. After the sudden loss of his father, Pork returned to Kennett High School after a year away to accomplish his high school diploma in 1991 with the help of great friends and determined educators. Pork was known throughout New England after years of hauling lumber across the Northeast along with many adventures in stock car racing alongside Center Conway’s Shaw Family. He also enjoyed many winters plowing snow for the State of New Hampshire and a lifetime of driving dump trucks at various construction sites across the valley and beyond. Sheer luck brought Janel back into his life in 2017 with a simple ceremony solidifying their love forever on May 29, 2021. With Janel at his side, Pork had the support and confidence to build his own business, Pork’s Dump Truck Services, in 2019, much to the pride of many in the Mt. Washington Valley. Pork was incredibly proud of both of his children and supported the pursuit of their passions in life and in work. He was predeceased by parents Gilbert and Carol King (nee Drew) as well as beloved aunts and uncles and Cousin Aron Drew. Pork is survived by his wife Janel of Silver Lake, NH, son Cale Elwin King of Montpelier, VT and daughter Nikki Woodhams and her husband Danny Woodhams of Hill, NH. There will be no calling hours. A Celebration of Life for Pork will be held at Shady Elm Farm on West Side Road in Conway on Saturday, October 25th starting at 1:00pm. Bring a chair, beverage, snack and a few stories to share.
