Eleanor Dixey

Eleanor H. Dixey, 92, of Kearsarge died January 9, 2010 at the Memorial Hospital in North Conway surrounded by her loving family. Born in Lynn, MA, the daughter of Carl and Esther (Carlson) Hallin, she grew up in Saugus, MA and had lived in Wellesley, MA for 15 years and in Cohasset, MA for 30 years prior to moving to Kearsarge in 1990.

Mrs. Dixey met her loving husband, Dr. Grant Dixey, in 1938 while working as a registered nurse at the Salem (MA) Hospital in 1938.

Eleanor was an avid golfer and a member of the North Conway Country Club in North Conway.

The family includes; her husband of 68 years, Dr. Grant M. Dixey of Kearsarge; a daughter, Pamela D. Abbott and her fiancé, Bob Holmes of Intervale; two grandchildren, Gatia McChesney and her husband Michael of Elkins and Marshall Abbott and his wife Angela of North Andover, MA; two great grandchildren, Brooke McChesney of Elkins and Emma Abbott of North Andover, MA; her former son-in-law, Raymond H. Abbott of Jackson and her dear friend, Marilyn Hill-Chappee of Bartlett.

She was predeceased by a sister, Violet Hopkins and a brother, Gordon Hallin.

Private graveside services will be held. in Waterside Cemetery in Marblehead, MA. There will be no visiting hours.
