Edward Saber, affectionately known as "Ted," passed away peacefully at home in Glen, NH on July 10th at the age of 98, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, Ted was the beloved son of Rosalie and Herbert Saber. He graduated from Cranston High School and soon after joined the Army Airforce, proudly serving his country in Italy for two years with an Honorable Discharge. In 1955, Ted married the love of his life, Elizabeth “Betty” McQuade. Their marriage spanned an impressive 67 years, a testament to their enduring love and companionship. Together, they shared a passion for skiing, spending countless weekends on the slopes of Attitash and were long-time members of the North Conway Country Club. Ted and Betty initially made their home in Riverside, Rhode Island, later moving to Barrington, RI, where they lived for 32 years and raised their children. Ted was a successful entrepreneur, owning and operating two hair salons in Rhode Island. In 1989, after more than 50 years of being weekend residents in the Mount Washington Valley, Ted and Betty retired to Glen, where they fully embraced the vibrant community. Ted was a man of many talents and hobbies. He was an avid skier and tennis player, and later in life, he developed a love for golf. He was also a skilled woodworker, creating beautiful furniture for his home and family, leaving behind pieces that will be treasured for generations. Above all, Ted was a family man. He cherished his nine grandchildren and took great joy in spending time with them, often engaging in lively games of gin and blackjack, where he was known for his banter. Ted is survived by his devoted wife, Betty, who stood by his side for nearly seven decades. He is also survived by his four children: Daniel (Patricia) Saber of Matunuck, RI; Marybeth (Thomas) Hodson of Glen, NH; James (Janine) Saber of Wilmington, DE; and Kerri Saber Magee (Lance Williford) of Woodstock, GA. Ted’s legacy of love, laughter, and craftsmanship will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Arrangements were made through Furber Funeral Home and Cremation Services. A mass of Christian burial will be held at Our Lady of the Mountains, 2905 White Mountain Hwy, North Conway, NH 03860 on August 14th at 11 am. A Celebration of Life with follow.
