Dean Davignon Obituary


Dean Davignon, 82, a resident of Intervale, NH since 1986 passed away suddenly on Tuesday, September 8, 2009. Born, January 3, 1927 in Providence, RI, he grew up with his parents, Victor and Dorothy Davignon in North Attleboro, MA. Dean graduated from Exeter Academy in Exeter, NH in 1944 and went on to Princeton University where he was active in sports and academics. In 1948, Dean graduated from Princeton University and met Shirley Terrault (the love of his life). Dean and Shirley married in October 1948.

After serving in the US Armed forces, he then began work as vice-president of a manufacturing company in Hamden, Ct until his retirement in 1976.

Throughout his life Dean was an avid flying enthusiast. Starting as a young boy building model airplanes and then becoming a private pilot in 1960.

His family took many wonderful cross-country trips in the years to come.

Later in life, he enjoyed many years of flying model airplanes and helicopters and made many friends from all over the country.

All who knew him will miss his fondness of family, friends and animals.

Dean is survived by two children, a son, Dean Jr. of Intervale, NH and a daughter, Leslie, her husband, Stephen and son, Matthew McLaughlin of Phoenix, AZ.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Furber and White Funeral Home 2925 White Mountain Highway in North Conway with Gerry Tilton, officiating.
