David A Merrill

David Allen Merrill Sr. passed away on May 5th at the age of 83 with his daughter Leslyn and son Joseph by his side at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice in Scarboro, Maine. David is survived by his daughter Leslyn McDermott, and three sons David Jr., Daniel, and Joseph. He was born in Swampscott Massachusetts and spent most of his childhood in Marblehead. He served in the US Airforce as part of the Strategic Air Command and after his honorable discharge he was employed at Pratt and Whitney in East Harford CT testing new engine prototypes and later transitioned to a quality inspector. For a short time, David worked with his father running a TV repair service in CT, then moved to North Conway and started the Anne Frost restaurant, as well as working residential construction and was co-owner of the Vista Country Store. David served on the North Conway volunteer fire department and was elected as a water commissioner for the North Conway Water Precent. Leslyn and Joseph would like to thank all the healthcare professionals who were involved in caring for David in his final days. Extraordinary professionalism and compassion were shown by the EMT first responders, Memorial Hospital emergency room, medivac service, Maine Medical Center and the Gosnell Memorial Hospice. Additional acknowledgement to the Manchester & White River Jt. VA hospitals who have diligently cared for David over the years. A visitation will be held at the Furber & White Funeral home from 1 – 3 PM on Saturday June 3rd followed by a private burial. In leu of flowers David’s family asks that donations be made to the Gosnell Memorial Hospice in Scarboro, ME via Hospice of Southern Maine.
