Daryl E. Smith

Daryl E. Smith Sr. was born July 29th 1954 and he passed away March 2nd 2025 at his home in Conway NH. He was preceded in death by his parents Charlotte Perkins Smith and Luther Earl Smith. Daryl was born and raised in Lovell Maine with his two brothers Bruce and Brian Smith. He graduated from Fryeburg academy in 1972. Here is where he grew his love for skiing, as a member of Fryeburg Academy's ski team F.A.S.T.. After high school he attended the University of Southern Maine. He then had over a 20 year career at Shaw’s Supermarket followed by various positions in the hotel industry. He also was proud to have been a member and past master of the Mt. Washington Masonic Lodge #87. He was a true original, never expecting anything from anyone except mutual respect. No matter what the event might be, if Daryl were there, you bet he would be at the camp fire stokin’ it. He enjoyed fires as they always seemed to bring family together. He had shown such pride in sharing the stories and successes of his children and grandchildren. He never spoke about them in a negative light. Up until the day he passed he took care of his grandson who became his closest most trusted friend. All we ever needed to put a smile on his face was family's company, and some wood to burn… or some friendly target practice with his nieces, family and friends. He loved to play guitar and was great at banjo picking. He was always up for a good time, with good tunes and ongoing lake days with his family and some maine-ah hum-ah to pass around the picnic table. He is survived by his two daughters Jessica Fahey and her husband Kevin Fahey granddaughters Allison, Stephanie, Jenna and two great granddaughters Isabelle and Addison. Carla Kephart and her husband Kevin, grandson Gavin Duquette and his granddaughter Scarlet Fortin. His son Daryl Jr., his wife Jinnie Smith and their family. Also his brothers Bruce and Brian Smith, his nieces Emily, Jennifer and Katie Smith. Though he will be missed, his presence will always be remembered and passed down by his loved ones, through stories and the sharing of memories of him. Into the next world, we are certain he will still be smiling large, beneath his black leather brimmed hat, grateful for those with whom he held close who helped shape his life. Arrangements were made through Furber Funeral Home and Cremation Services. In memory of Daryl, we ask that a donation be given to the Gibson Center in North Conway or that people volunteer at any local non-profit organizations that are in need of aid.
