Cynthia Arruda Obituary

Cynthia Robin Arruda, 68, of Silver Lake, NH passed away peacefully on Wednesday January 31, 2024. Cindy, as she was known, had a lengthy battle with dementia. She fought courageously, the only way she knew how to, and now she is at peace. Cindy was born in Norwood, MA on October 25, 1955. She was the daughter of Gerald and Pauline Marshall. In addition to her beloved parents, she also joins her brothers Stephen and Jerry in Heaven. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, John Arruda Jr. She also leaves behind her two children, Lauren Arruda Dow, and her husband Patrick Dow, of Augusta, ME and John Arruda III, and his wife Kelly Arruda, of Madison, NH. Cindy had once said that being a mother was the best thing that she’d ever done. Her family also includes her grandchildren: Drew Arruda, KC Arruda, Denise Dow, and Annie Dow. Also missing her are her beloved nieces and nephews: Heather Marshall, Shannon Williams, Arielle Marshall Silveira, Stephen Marshall, Christopher Marshall, and Eric Marshall. Born and raised in Massachusetts, Cindy spent a majority of her time serving the public. She was an entertainer at heart. She loved serving her regulars at the many restaurants and bars that she worked at on the Cape. In 1990, the Arruda family moved to New Hampshire. Cindy made a lot of great friends during her time at Snug Harbor (which became Delaney’s) and The Scottish Lion Inn and Restaurant (which is now Moat Mountain Smokehouse). Cindy was also co-owner and operator of Dolley Madison’s Country Store in Madison, NH. Cindy had the time of her life while at Dolley’s. She relished and treasured all of her time with friends and customers. She also was co-owner of Best Regards in Conway, NH. When she wasn’t working, Cindy loved taking care of her many “fur babies” that she had throughout the years, doing crossword puzzles, going to the ocean, and spending time with her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of putting her family and friends above herself. The Furber and White Funeral Home in North Conway is in charge of arrangements. A celebration of life will be held at some point later in the year. Because of Cindy’s love for “fur babies,” in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Harvest Hills Animal Shelter in Bridgton, ME
