Barry David McGinn In the early morning hours of June 7th, Barry “Finbar” David McGinn passed away peacefully due to natural causes at his residence in Intervale, New Hampshire. Barry was born in 1957 to Winifred “Winnie” and Walter McGinn at the Norfolk Naval Hospital in Virginia, where Walter was stationed in the United States Navy. Being a military family they were always on the move, next was Puerto Rico, then to North Kingstown, Rhode Island, where the family settled in 1968 after the death of Walter in Vietnam. Barry graduated from North Kingstown High School and began his culinary career, working at the Fleet Reserve Club, The Copper Kettle, and other restaurants in the area. In 1988, Barry moved to the Mt. Washington Valley area of New Hampshire, where he worked as Chef in many of the Valley’s restaurants, including Fandangle’s, Merlino’s, The Muddy Moose, May Kelley’s Cottage, The Ledges, McGrath’s Tavern, Hooligans, and more. While living in the area, Barry met and later married Beth Gray of Intervale, and although their marriage ended, they remained very close until Barry’s passing. Barry was known throughout the Valley as a dedicated and hard worker who enjoyed his cooking profession immensely. He was a happy and funny guy who really enjoyed having a few beers with friends and family. Barry is preceded in death by his mother Winnifred, father Walter, stepfather Delmar Leblanc and sister Catherine “Katie” Lyon Thurston Carlson. He is survived by his older brother Frank McGinn of Rhode Island, his nephews Kevin and Keith Thurston and numerous cousins throughout New England.
