Ann McGrath Cullinan, of Intervale, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 after a brief illness. A native of Natick Massachusetts, she graduated from Natick High School in 1945. Ann received a B.A. degree in English from Regis College and a Masters degree in English from Boston College. For a number of years she taught high school English in both Medfield and Waltham, MA. Ann married Arthur D. Cullinan of Dorchester, MA in 1957 and together they raised five children. Having been an avid skier and frequent visitor to the Mount Washington Valley since the 1940s, she moved to the Valley with her family in 1972. Ann taught literature at the UNH School for Lifelong Learning. She also worked as a librarian at the Conway Public Library and helped establish the library's Nella Henney History Room. Ann was known as a local historian and author of a number of articles on local history for many regional publications. Ann served on the advisory board for the History of Conway, NH sponsored by the Conway Historical Society, as a clerk of the Conway town meetings from 1979-1990 and a member of the NH Humanities Council from 1984-1988. Over the years, she served as a trustee for the Jackson Public Library, Conway Public Library and the North Conway Public Library.
She is survived by her five children, Christopher Cullinan of Concord, Brian Cullinan of Los Angeles, CA, Cathleen O'Neill of Monson, MA, David Cullinan of North Fryeburg, ME and John Cullinan of Bridgewater. Ann is also survived by her ten grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur D. Cullinan, in 2000.
Visiting hours will be held Friday, August 3, 2012 from 600 pm to 800 pm. at Furber and White Funeral Home in North Conway. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 1100 a.m. in Our Lady of the Mountains Church in North Conway. Burial will be in the North Conway Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Jen's Friends Cancer Foundation.
